Nendo Lily Arrives, Abused Immediately.
Lily just doesn’t get a break! We all know what it can feel like when we’re not wanted. It looks like Saber does too. More after the jump!
What a mysteriously shaped package! e2046 delivers again with awesome bubble wrap. But why is this Nendoroid box shape so oddly sized?
Finally, after some unwrapping we find… Tupperware? I’ve never seen Tupperware used as packing material before. I don’t think the other daughters have either, except maybe Rin. But then again, she’s unique.
Sugoi! Saber Lily has arrived! Why does this all look so familiar?!
Looks like Rin is the only one enjoying the bed of bubble wrap.
Nagi: “Get yer foot offa my face!!!”
Upon arrival, it seems the other daughters don’t like Saber Lily all that much. Maybe because she’s the 11th Nendoroid I own, so it kinda makes her the odd one out. Hamsters are like that too – they don’t like outsiders.
In the end, no matter how powerful you are, sometimes sheer numbers will overwhelm you. Saber was told right away where she belonged in this group.
Konata: “Look! A rare drop!”
Everyone: “ha ha ha, Konata is so silly sometimes!”
Saber: … 
Thrown into the bottom feeder shelf, poor Saber Lily is left to fend for space with Ashe, Sephiroth and the newly disgruntled Uesagi… wait, disgruntled? Why?
Because Saber Lily has won a rightful place next to my computer monitor. She couldn’t beat out Asuka and her motorcycle though.
So that reminds me – This version of Saber Lily had a photoshop too!

And if you’re worried about little Lily, it’s okay. She wasn’t in the bottom feeder for long before I rescued her, and let her join the others. She’s still being ignored by them, but they’ll eventually get along, I just know it!

Poor Saber Lily will have to come up with other methods to make friends. I don’t think being violent will help make friends. It’s a good idea, maybe she can use angel wings!
She’ll have to steal her armor back from Konata first though.

I thought you made some wings for real and just stuck them to the nendo, I didn’t realize they were drawn until you said so! O_o I must say I love your painting style! if it’s not too much bother, could you give me some tips? I’ve never been good at painting (my forte is black and white, I guess) so any advice would be appreciated!

An important tip is to always be observant of your surroundings, and see how light and shadow falls on things. Study it as if you’re following lines. You’ll eventually get the hang of it. When it comes to painting, use photographs as reference, and the color picker tool to pick the right tones. Learn how different contrasts can yield different shadow and light. Know where to start your mid-tones!
It’s very similar to black and white shading really. You just have to start thinking in color!
That’s the saddest story of Nendoroid abuse I’ve seen. T_T
I have to agree with nanu, I really like the konata/saber pic the best. Saber Lily just looks so sad in that one.

Ha ha yeah, after I finished photographing it all, I felt bad for Saber Lily, and it brought up memories of my own scarred childhood.
I had a lot of fun doing this one because of the cuteness of it all! I think I enjoy photoshopping and photographing nendoroids the most.

I didn’t know E2046 also shipped things as a store… how are their prices?
Their prices are on par with HLJ and Hobbysearch. They price in US dollars, so it’s however much at that time rather than being at the mercy of the exchange rates when you purchase in Yen.
The good thing about them is that shipping is cheap. Their packing is … unique, but sufficient. Even though they are mainly a recast company, they don’t sell bootleg PVC.
I use them because overall, it’s cheaper after VIP discount and shipping. I’ve also never had to worry about paying duty (YMMV depending on country).
Great story board, but sad to see Saber lily suffer. I love my Saber Lilys (yes nendoroid, figma & 1/8) and if my figma/nendoroids bully her, I’m gonna lock them up in “prison” (the figure box) *do the evil lady laugh*.
lol wow! Punishable offense is punishable! Then I am sad to say that I’m a figure abuser. There are several of my figures still “in prison”, and for no reason at all! Some of them have been in prison for over a year now! But I can’t help it – no more shelf space! That’s why I sell figures once in a while to give them a better home.

I’ve got 11 Nendoroids now, I can’t believe! I wasn’t even interested in them at the start until I saw L. After I got a couple, I found them really cute and hard to resist. They’ve slowly become my favorite figures.
Wahh, so many Nendos! I only have one Nendoroid for now and that’s Miku (looked for a very long time to see if she was available at Anime Expo and got her yayyy)
They’re so cute and I didn’t realize how articulate they were until I finally unboxed Miku. So many details! I’m contemplating on which one I want to pick up next :3
Congrats on getting Miku! Miku is definitely my favorite Nendoroid. She’s so adorable! Rin comes a VERY close second.
My least favorite is Yuki from Haruhi, but that’s not saying much since I love all my Nendoroids.
I was going to get Kagamiku if I couldn’t get Miku at all, but thank goodness she was found XD
I would love love looove to get the Touhou Nendoroids, but I think you can only get them through proxy. I have no clue how to even start with that T_T; Maybe I’ll keep an eye out for Churuya, lol.
Good luck with the rare and hard to get ones. I’ve only been able to get nekomimi Shana and Konata through incredible legwork with friends.

any recommendation to where to start studying your skill? (necessary program & equipment)
am 19 and wanting to be an illustrator, specialized on almost everything, but anime/manga’s style at best
Hi! No school will really teach you anime/manga style. That you have to learn on your own.
Those “How To Draw” Anime books are a good base, but careful not to follow it too closely, otherwise you’ll start to adapt their sucky drawing styles. You just need them to learn the basics.
From there, look through lots of other artists works, and derive a style of your own from it. (I still haven’t found “my style” yet.)
In terms of programs, any paint program will do – Photoshop, Painter, even MS Paint! Definitely go towards Photoshop or Painter though.
Equipment-wise, you definitely need a tablet. If you’re just beginning to explore, get a Wacom Bamboo. It will take a lot of getting used to though.
